halcyon specks of memory
dusted from days of yore,
so close, they tiptoe around our subconscious,
treasured remnants of the trivial, the habitual, the marvellous,
treasured friends smiling from within
as the year, the day, the second ahead
greet us, drawing breath,
enticing us on our journey,
helping us plant seeds to embroider our destiny...

...now only secrets lie ahead,
a soliloquy of intricacies, imaginings and momentary wonders,
defying reason or predictability,
exciting, inspiring, fresh,
riddled with delight, ripening
as simmering adventures
welcome us into 2018,
more alive than ever before...
