Wintry Walk ...

Walking a few miles in the snow this evening and basking in the sheer beauty of a Winter's evening, I had to write!

Wintry Walk...

entwined like lovers
beneath their sheets
branches overhang
lined with feather-soft snow
peering down
on ice-kissed paths

as nature combs
its perfect patterns
a fox passes by
padding softly
nuzzling, then moving on
illuminated by lamps
as spittals of green
peek through the glow
and night crawls over

the crystals glisten invitingly
their warmth belying
frozen forms,
whispering
"Winter's here"...
