Organising a bike ride is a bit more difficult that organising a walk. Unlike a cycling clubs most people will be at different levels of cycling fitness so you need a route that everyone can do. Then there is bike transport or hire. All but dedicated cyclists (me included) don't like to cycle in adverse conditions so it will usually be summer. There are a few cycling trails in the Peak District which aren't too arduous and very popular. Try putting one up Mitch and see what the response is.

Hello Mitch,
last time I organised a bike ride I spent a good deal of time sorting some peoples bikes out, putting air in tyres, adjusting brakes , tightening all sorts of bits and bobs, mudguards rubbing, oiling chains.... and I am not a trained bike mechanic..
Bit frustrating for those that turned up with their stuff properly serviced and ready.
Still we all got round in the end and hopefully people went away with bikes that worked better (and safer).

I might put on a ride but it will be about 25 miles and 2500 feet of up and down. It will be when it is warmer so if we do need to stop and sort stuff out it wont be too cold.

wow wow wow blimey there's a lot to it, thanks Lazlo and Trekkie for your comments with all due respect I am going to leave well alone. I am not an expert in the cycling field. Best I stick with what I know best.

I'd be up for a 30-50 mile road ride anywhere nearish to Manchester.

Last year I really enjoyed training after work for my solo ride from Tonbridge to Paris and back. But the 7-day tour exceeded all expectations. I want to do something similar this Summer and am thinking of joining Madnad for part of her ride in early July from Amsterdam to Copenhagen (see Invitations). Maybe some of you will consider this too🙂
