I still can’t get OD on my computer. Keep getting page isn’t working right now and http error 500. I can log in on my phone obviously. Any techies out there can help me out?

Doug.I pressed directly onto LOG IN which took me to the log in for the site and then I have full access. I tried to leave the tab open but it went back to this page not working so repeated above process.

There have certainly been problems and they are continuing. I've always been able to log on via my laptop but it won't allow me to upload pictures.
Yesterday I could log on with my phone and upload pictures but today I can't log on with my phone.
It's very puzzling 🤔 and a real pain 😨

If you can acess the site with a different browser or your 'phone then that suggests a local problem as the site is clearly working on another browser/phone. 🤔 Can you reload any server error pages by pressing F5 (PC) or the reload icon(a circular arrow ↻) on your mobile.

And though I can access the site with my laptop I still can't upload pictures, when I try to upload it looks like it's going to work but after about 5 minutes it comes up with the message that it can't upload.
Also, both my phone and my laptop are working perfectly well for everything else.
I strongly suspect that the problem lies somewhere with OD, especially since it's affecting various members.

I have just managed to access the site again for the first time since last Thursday. I'll give more information later.

I had issues a few weeks ago. Phone would not log in.
Somehow the log in required on my phone required a capital. I had not changed it.....so my phone logs in perfectly BUT I need a capital as in O for outlook.

Try this as more could have altered.

Can I suggest that phone users update the browser. Many of us don't update the browser that came with the 'phone ever. If its an okder phone (or PC for that matter) then do an update. You can also download Firefox - which doesn't send your data to all unsundry. MS Edge is rebadged Chrome, and Chrome is pretty good if you're happy to give your life to Google.

If you're still using Internet Explorer then moving to Firefox, Chrome or Edge is recommended from a security point of view anyway.

Not connecting with Edge, keep getting the error 500 reply. Chrome works but sometimes I have to try it twice before the site comes up.

Sorry Steve, we all can't be wrong, the problem is at your end. I use the latest version of Chrome on my phone and I'm still getting that ERROR 500.
And I still can't upload pictures from my laptop, which again has the latest version of Chrome.
So please properly address the issue, the problem is with the OD site, Occam's razor verifies that.

also, why should I use Edge or Firefox when Chrome allows me to access every other site without any problems on both my phone and laptop.

and another word, I know of other members who are having problems with the site and they aren't listed above

Strange how some of you are having problems, i'v not had any difficulty getting on the site since the site was offline several weeks ago.

Try it from your phone, oooops I forgot about your phone 🤣😂 but try uploading a photo and there's too many of us having problems 😨

JohnH: Just uploaded a photo, it did take longer than normal though.

When I try to upload a photo it tries for a long time then it comes up with the message that it can't upload. I've tried this so many times and it's the same every time.
There is something wrong with the site, too many unconnected people are having the same and similar problems.
And, one day on my phone I accessed the site and uploaded photos, then the next day, without changing anything on my phone I get that error message and I can't access the site.

Further to my post above, the URL I was using to access the site, https://outdoorduo.co.uk , stopped working with Firefox on my PC (Windows 10) last Thursday (16/12/21) and gives a blank white screen.
I thought the site was down (particularly as I found I couldn't access it on my phone, which uses Chrome, either) like it was in November, until, hunting around with a search engine late Monday evening, I came across https://new.outdoorduo.co.uk which worked for a while, but isn't doing so now (blank white screen).

I investigated further. Both the above URLs work on my PC with Chrome and Edge, as does https://www.outdoorduo.co.uk (which used to work with Chrome on my phone). ... (Cont'd)

As for my phone (Android 4.4), the only browser installed is Chrome, and with https://www.outdoorduo.co.uk , which used to work, I now get the message 'This page isn't working www.outdoorduo.co.uk is currently unable to handle this request. However, earlier the two other URLs were working, albeit sometimes with a security certificate warning (see the 'Security Certificate warnings on OLD Android phones' thread), but when I checked again only https://outdoorduo.co.uk was working, and now neither of them is (both are giving the error message above with the appropriate URL).

I have experienced no problems with other websites on either device.

If you try and open OD on any other page than the login page on Chrome you get the error 500 page as well but it works OK for the login page.

It is absolutely rediculous that members are having to go to all this trouble, it's now so obvious that the problem lies with the site.
Come on Steve, get the finger out and get to the bottom of this and get it sorted.

OK. So I have been looking into this. Its a problem as I am not getting any problems so I have had to do a bit of "bodging about" in th ehope of hitting the right thing. I have made a change and fingers crossed may have fixed things, but cannot test at this end as I have nothing to test against. ☹ If you have issues try again and please report your result.

I think the image issue may be related. So I'll look into that once this initial server 500 is fixed.

Now able to open OD on Edge.

Perfect, back to normal. Not been right since last Thursday

After my last post, but before the fix, on my PC https://outdoorduo.co.uk stopped working with Edge and https://new.outdoorduo.co.uk stopped working with Chrome (both were giving the ' … HTTP ERROR 500' message).

All three URLs are now working on my phone and with all three browsers on my PC. 😀

Site Admin: 🤔 I would be interested to know in layman's terms (I don't know much about computers) what caused the problem and how it was fixed.

M1960: A minor underlying setting to do with file locations was to blame causing some browsers to choke, but not others. A difference in interpretation between browsers I think, but I am not really sure. It was a nightmare of the past that browsers interpreted the standards differently (especially Microsoft internet explorer), but recent years have seen huge improvements so display issues and errors like this are much rarer.

My phone and PC are both fine, as per my post of 23/12/21 @ 0:14.

Site not available to me while in Cornwall working as accommodation provided Plusnet for Wifi and it blocked OD because of phonographic content !
