Not sure if i have undxerstood correctly but there seem to be events under invitations from a commercial organisation apparantly charging for the events.
Does anybody have any views on this?
Should they be allowed to advertise these at all?
Should they have to pay?
Or should they simply not be allowed since it is against the spirit of how the site has been built?

Well Trekkie I guess the spirit of the site is meeting like minded people (walkers) for walks & dates so I guess it is in the same spirit. Should you have to pay? - depends on how much you want to meet someone. If no-one on the site grabs your eye (or it doesn't work out) then you look elsewhere and you usually have to pay for other dating sites. As I have said before I didn't choose this site for it's dating capabilities. I see no problem in them advertising here but I doubt I will be partaking of their services. I hope they are paying for posting these invitations as most of us have to (by way of membership that is on our part)
My view is simple...commercial events should be placed as Adverts or mentioned in the Forum section if members wish to recommend them and not within the Invitations section.

Not sure what you mean,pal, I put an invite for a sponsored walk,it was up to the individuals whether they chose to join us...am I missing the point ??

trtrekkieMain point of the post was just to clarify and bring to the attention of members that it seemed to be a commercially arranged walk.
Blimey for £35 a head I would take a group of you guys out anytime and give you mulled wine in winter and chilled white in summer....

BTW I probably have a biase since I joined the site in the very early days when it was less about dating.... Fortunate that I have someone on hand when I need a date but if she can't make it I could always ask my missus.!! (Hello Dear, just joking)
