Steve's funeral
by Kath_TSteve's funeral is being held at 1.30pm Tuesday 21st March at Manchester Crematorium. JohnH, SheilaB and I will be attending. If anyone else would like to go, it would be good to see you and for more people to go from Outdoor Duo. There will be a wake after the funeral which I'm sure we'd all be welcome to attend.

Thanks for posting this Kath, it would be good if we got a few members to attend as Steve was such a really nice guy.
I would have loved too, but I am afraid its to far for me ❤
BPBea (Pebbles)I attended Steve's funeral earlier today. It was a very moving service, the crematorium was full with many standing at the back.
on 21/03/23 @ 16:08I'd known Steve on OD walks and like many other members found him a really lovely guy. However, as the service progressed I realised that I knew so little about him. He was a very self-effacing guy, but he had so much that he could have bragged and boasted about, but that just wasn't Steve.
Hre was an extremely experienced and accomplished mountaineer, he'd walked and climbed in Iceland, the Alps, all over the UK and he'd completed not just all the Wainwrights but all the Munros too. To be continued ....
He was a member of the South Manchester cycling and touring club. He organised and led many of their outings. Many of the members of the SMCTC came to the service on their bikes which I thought was a very fitting tribute to Steve, they told me that he organised some very long trips with perhaps only a mile on roads, they all spoke so warmly and highly of him.
on 21/03/23 @ 16:17He was the bass singer in a very accomplished choir.
I didn't quite catch it properly but he set up a group/organisation to help parents get access to their children after a divorce or separation.
He was a graduate in biochemistry from Bath University.
His first computer was an old Sinclair ZX81 To be continued ....
On his old Sinclair he learned to programme and wrote some very good programmes.
I could go on, today really opened my eyes to not just what a really lovely guy he was but what a really great all round person he was.
After the funeral, we had a lovely meal and it was great just finding out so many fabulous things about Steve.
Hwe will be greatly missed by many many people. A tragic loss at far too young an age.
All our thoughts are with you Steve.
Lovely words John. It was a wonderful service and wake. Thank you for driving as well. I wouldn't have been able to go on my own and I was so glad that I could be there. Thank you Sheila for your company too.
KTKath_TAye Kath, it was a wonderful service and wake that did Steve proud, what a wonderful man he was, what a loss to so many people. And when we spoke to his daughter, Hannah, it was so good to hear that she would take Max his dog into her care.
