It is easier to understand a nation by listening to its music than by learning its language they say.

bentravla: ...as the ducks on the canal near home proved last week. I often wondered why they, and swans walk on the ice, I thought perhaps they don't understand and don't realise that there is open water nearby. However, when I was there with my girlfriend recently and only part on the canal was frozen, we fed them some bread after which they went into the water to follow us. It made me realise that they stand on the ice because the water is cold around the goolies.☹ These birds have more sense than I thought. (Photo posted today on "Pictures")
