Don't buy dodgy crampons
by trekkieHi, with winter approaching
some might be looking to invest in crampons to extend their walking season.
Please unless you know what you are looking for either ask someone trustworthy or go to a reputable outlet.
The British Mountaineering Council, BMC,
has issued a warning of crampons being sold which look okay to the inexperienced .

There is a good alternative for non four season boots. Kahtoola Microspikes around ?45.00. Used them for a while and ideal for Winter walking on snow & ice on the Fells, but not Mountaineering🙂
lalandranger68i have the same , had em about 6 years now, very good as Landranger68 says BUT not for serious ice axe stuff
StSteeevI've bought a pair of the kahtoolha KTS flexible steel crampons and they are ready for action. Last year I thought their microspikes were the 'bees knees' for hiking but they proved not good enough for ice on high fells ( I slipped and badly tore medial knee ligament) so will be using these KTS crampons on high fells this coming season. They work with 2/3 season boots %uD83D%uDE09
SpSpringSorry to hear that Sprite, but that has not happened to me,even when people were sliding past me,mostly navigating by the rear🙂
lalandranger68Must get my eyes tested, Thought it said Don't Buy Doggy Crampons,I thought why the hell would I buy crampons for my dogs, I had visuals of me trying to fit crampons onto my dogs little paws and her trying to walk . I then put my glasses on and it all made sense , which is more than I can say for me!
