Pictures, Invites and sharing
by Former Site AdminI have made a few changes to the pictures section to improve the ability to share pictures, especially those from invites. 🙂
When you upload you can choose to allow others to download the original full sized image. If an image is downloadable then a green "down" arrow icon will appear. <img src="https://www.outdoorduo.co.uk/theme/icons/arrow_download.png" />
You can also attach an image to an invite. there's a new Invite filter that pulls up the most recent 25 invites and shows those images linked to that invite. 😀
As part of this set-up and to keep the server tidy I am planning to keep pictures for no more than 2 years.

p.s. This only affects images uploaded from now onwards. ☹
Thank you for those developments.
RCRoland_CSite Admin: hi Steve - is there any way that you can store the old pictures? There are times when many of us have really got a lot from looking back at great memories. Best wishes - Jonathan
CDCarpe Diem!I'll let it run for a while and see how much disk space is gobbled. I could also remove the large full size ones, but leave the small and medium versions as memory joggers. 🙂 I am guessing everyone who is likely to download an image would have done so by then.
You could always politely ask people not to post more than 3 or 4 at any one time? 🙂
mimilvusmilvus: I wouldn't want to put anyone off uploading - the more the merrier, its a favourite part of the site.
Those changes have seemed stopped me from adding photos, have tried several times, but just wont upload.
HHelvellyn40How big is the photo? In file explorer select the photo, and the size in MB should be shown at the bottom.
Thanks
Site Admin: Size of photo is 2.3 MB. Have just tried again but didn't work.
