The Skye Trail
by mick0181Hi all I've been wanting to hike the Skye Trail for about 2 Years now and have finally set the dates for an extra long Easter bank holiday Slightly short notice I know) This will be predominantly a backpacking trip being self-sufficient with a tent covering 80 miles in 4 - 5 days. I am still making my quick travel plans but if this is of interest to anyone who feels they could hike this int he time frame comfortably I can put it up as an official invite. If it does go on it will have to be limited to 6 to preserve this unmarked trail as much as possible.
I can arrange some quick possible travel plans with car sharing etc for those interested depending on which part of the country you are

Sounds a fantastic adventure which one day I would like to do but probably a little more comfortable in the accommodation. And probably in summer too..could still be a bit of wintery conditions up there on the tops..we walked up to the Old Man of Storr last year intending to continue on to the Storr summit itself.. Unfortunately the wind was ferocious that day.. If you decide to go take care mate, pretty wild country on the tops by all accounts f🙂
HiHighlandsdudeHighlandsdude: I'll be taking each day as it comes and adjust accordingly. Out of curiosity from a man that%u2019s been there, how is the cell phone coverage? I%u2019m anticipating non-existent?
Mick0181. Cell coverage in north of island is pretty poor generally. Portee area ok. Cuilin Do get reception on some high routes but not generally at "trek level". South of Island usually ok IF you can see mainland! There are a few new masts up this year.
liliveitliveit: Thank you, that's handy to know.I had my assumptions that service would be limited but have been quite surprised in some places where service has been booming where I wasn't quite expecting it.
Keeping a good eye on the weather if it carries on like this it should be a good trip (wet but good).
Hey Mick0181. Very wet underfoot just now but still doable. Still snow on Cuillin and above Storr too. Watch out for wind forecast in particular.
liliveitShould be (relatively) quiet for Skye.
Ill most likely be back over there just after you finish unortunately.
Hope you have a great time
