Earl Sterndale Expedition
by Flat cap (Mike)Thanks to Doug for one of the most impressive walks so far, a hilarious experience that will have a firm place in the OD folklore. It had it all: perfect weather, impressive landscape, deep stinking mud, great company and good banter. One of the walks that reminded me why I joined OD in first place and why it was certainly worth to keep up the subscription.

Did someone put something in our water bottles? Had we eaten the wrong sort of mushrooms? After we reached Booth's farm the world became seriously strange. Paths on the maps were blocked or none existent and new paths appeared (or we just walked across a field). Then it became harder to walk on the flat than up or down hill. The ground was bone dry but we were tramping through thick mud. There were shops in garden sheds with no one serving. I was expecting a mad hatter, a hare and a dormouse at one of the picnic tables. A truly magical day.
