Thank you Site Admin and well done to Paul and Bal and many others who took part in the competition this time. I think the standard has been very high and it's been a privilege to be thought of as one of the best.

As you suggested, my picture is partly symbolic of our current situation; a dark time but with a hint of a brighter time ahead. My favourite picture was actually the one of the parent sparrow feeding the fledgling; symbolic of the vulnerability of some and the need to be helping each other in this difficult time.

As RidgeWalker reminds us, let's be careful for just a little while longer because, although it's particularly grim right now, the end is in sight.

Congratulations to Paul, Bal and Top Spot and thanks Steve for keeping the competition going and adding a little more fun And interest to these days. Particularly good photos this year I think 🤔

Have I stepped in to a Trumpian universe where the one who receives fewer votes wins. Looked on the Picture competition and it said Paultheotherone's picture received 13 votes and Bal's received 27. Can admin explain this or do I have to organise a "stop the steal" invasion?

Lazlo Woodbine: I was thinking on the similar lines, having said that i think Paul is a worthy winner, an outstanding photo, also well done to the runners up Bal and John.

Lazlo Woodbine: The explanation was given by Site Admin in his invitation to take part in the competition. That explanation is no longer there but the rule, as it has always been, is simply that the picture with the highest average score wins. Obviously it can't be determined by the total number of votes because each vote can award anything between 1 and 5 stars. Please don't start a UK branch of Trumpism!

Thanks John for the explanation; an average of points awarded. This allows new entrants a fair chance to garner points, and means that its difficult to topple those with lots of votes off the top spot as one bad vote has a progressively lower effect on the outcome.
No method is perfect, though I had considered getting a mud wrestling wring and having the top three slug it out for the laurel, but COVID rules prevent alas! 😉

No ‘stop the steal’ on my behalf please and no mud wrestling ( unless I can choose who I do it with ! ) . A fair system and a worthy winner- cracking photo. I’m just glad if people got some enjoyment from the many excellent entries .
