I have tried a few over the years, I dont really think any are better all contain the mix of genuine single people seeking their (probably too ideal) soul mate and married men looking for someone to liven their life up! (probably women too but obviously I wouldn't have come across them)
As a genuine single women who has been on her own long enough to have left most baggage in left luggage and begun to enjoy being single but would love someone to share things with ... my advice to you is be honest .... too many internet dates I've had seem to think it is ok to date then just vanish... what is wrong with a pleasant thank but no thanks? Hi all, Ive tryed joining lots of local clubs such as mountaineering/tennis/leisure but seems all couples. So yes ive tryed the odd int. date sites. My problem has been ive been bombarded with e-mails daily direct from the site with so called matches that are totally mismatched.!! So ive never bothered to meet up with anyone. I saw the outdoorduo ad in country walking and reg. yesterday. Like countrylass Ive been single a long time, no baggage. I am happy with my single status, however, I want to meet new friends and hopefully someone special.

Yes I've tried one or two sites over the past year with very little of the right interest. Pjb and Mb are right most sites aren't focused on the right criteria. You get mismatches and it is difficult to sustain interest. I know it's really annoying but try not to focus on finding "the one" I think more than anything we want to expand our friendship horizons and this site will do that. I've found it extremely friendly since I logged on and I hope to do my first walk in a few weeks. Relax and enjoy the moment and things will slot into place.

Same as MB it just feels good on this site because you haven't got a big sign on head saying I'm available. It's great meeting new people and if your after a relationship it can happen naturally.

I don't really use this site for dating. I think of it as a 'hub' for likeminded people. Thats what makes the site refreshingly different, and takes the pressure off, if its gonna happen it'll happen!

Can anyone honestly say they are looking forward to growing older on their own, that is one of the reasons why anyone uses sites like these. The speed with which they want or need to find someone differs. The diference with this site is that fron the outset there is a common interest at some level and no pressure. Not looking forward to growing old alone as in lonely but as everyone seems to say if you're on this site that seems unlikely because everyone is so friendly. You can't buy good friends and they never go away.

I've tried quite a few dating sites but find that where I live is a real sticking point. I am in a beautiful part of the world - West Wales - but finding a single man who's got a worldly outlook and similar interests is proving tricky because it's so rural. It's stunning walking country and I would *love* to find a compatible man to explore it all with, sigh. I'm thinking of moving closer to a city just so I can improve my chances of finding compatible souls! I've realised that even on this web site most people are miles away.

Lots of people take their own pic with a phone - you'll see lots like that on fish! And if everyone who says they love walking were out at the same time, you wouldn't to be able to move.

Plenty Of Fish was by far the worst. Nobody talks.
Fitness Singles was the best but everyone is in London or America.
Eharmony was really good. You start off sending short questionnairres. That way no time or effort is wasted if the other party doesnt reply.
Outdoorduo is by far the best *idea*, but again: No one replies. Joined for a month..

Too me the O.D. site is my outdoorsey club that gets me out & about on adventures a new without having to wait around for other friends to get a free slot in their diary. I had a full calender of events before joining & now it's bursting at the seams ha! I have told many of my outdoorsey active friends, single or not, to join up & get out having new experiences & fun with some great like minded folk <img src='theme/emoticon_grin.png' />

Interesting comments from everyone! I live in the far south-east and what anyone says there's not many mountain men around down here! Similarly amongst my tennis playing friends, there's no-one who'd consider camping out on the hills. So short of moving north where the action is, this site is the perfect answer for me!
