MaMariaHi,I'm new to this site. I've just read the thread and would be really keen. Im one of those teachers with holiday-I can manage 23/24th Oct due to it being at the end of my half term. I'll look for campsites near and see if there are spaces. Thanks for organising it.
CaCatrineHi Catrine and Darkpeak
mamark301I hope you both make it and then enjoy the day and meat new poeple as well.
Cheers Mark, Im being a wee bit lazy here and not bothering to look at the top of the thread, a little ironic I know, being as Im on an activity site. But are the walks still based around Keswick? Anyway, Thats where I'll just look for campsites.
CaCatrinehi all walks well go from keswick so it be ok for all

23-25th is the middle weekend of half term for me so looking good at the mom.......anyone from down my way who would like to share lifts or travel togther just let me know
I'm new to this site as well and it looks good so far. this is unexpected where someone just come up with an idea for a venue and then people show interest, but it sounds a good way of meeting others from the forum or just meeting up for the first time. I'll keep a note of the dates so thanks Mark for the idea.
kekevinoHi all its nice to see there is grate interest in the walks in oct.
mamark301Well all going to plan, all three walks are esay going as it as to be fear for all and it be one were we all can chat get to no one and all. i be letting you all no the times and set off places for all three walks. as for acomadtion, there is a good hostel in Keswick, and loads off camp sites around as well. Seeing not every one doing all the three walks . To me if every one makes the own acomadtion arangments, then thats best for all. But the main thing after all the walks we all meat in a pub have a few!!!!!!! drinks and bite to eat and enjoy one's company.
I post more ifo soon, and see you all soon.
Hi guys, can't make that weekend but up in the lakes the following weekend if anyone is around.
mimilvushi sorry you cant make it but the next one if all likes i hope you can make it.
mamark301Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and the walks in October sound good. I live in Workington so no problem with travel for me. Would anyone mind if I brought my dog along?
cocoolsummerbreeze64I dont mind dogs at all so it ok , can it drink as we will be going for a drink later, lol
mamark301Thank you both for the friendly welcome. Yes, he is partial to one or two - cool, muddy water is his favourite! After a long walk he's quite happy sleeping in the car. Do you usually start and end at the same place?
cocoolsummerbreeze64Hi as you ask yes all start and end in the same place, for each walk. I will post more details soon. Glad you can make some off the walk.
mamark301what are the dates again for this meet mark?

Hi Down to earth and Lost again. I'll be driving up late Friday and hopefully meet up if people are about? Im taking my campervan up and camping 6 miles away from Keswick. The camp sites were all booked any nearer due to it being half term.
CaCatrineI should be able to make it, poss travelling up late Friday, I know camp site at Castlerigg, 25 mins walk to Keswick, any other ideas, possibly closer??? or bunkhouse? I would imagine it being quite dark when I get there!!

Catrine, which campsite is it youre booked on to ?. I was thinking of camping anyway and it would be more sociable if there's a few in the same locations
kekevinoCan any 1 tell me where we meet ? So i can find near by site 4 my caravan
ararizona1Hi LA, just looked at reviews on Denton House - doesn't look good ? Just a suggestion but the YHA in Keswick (minutes from town centre) looks good and is 4 star? Anyways will go with the flow and agree with others that would be best to be all 'togever'. :0) GC
GCGlowing CheeksI am happy to go with the flow, if camping, to camp on same site please....
frfrandalliHi all if your around on friday we could meat in the dog and gun on the main street. Food good and drink good.
mamark301I my self will be there and it be a nice place to meat.
Mark301

Hi it only a pub, but there is a hostel in Keswick, and loads off b/bs.
mamark301a friend of mine is interested as well but might not beable to make it until sat any idea what time the walk will be starting
Sorry Im late with my reply, Ive booked on the
CaCatrineTroutbeck Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Hutton Moor End, Troutbeck, Penrith, Cumbria, CA11 0SX. Its 6 miles away from Keswick, it was the nearest I could get for my campervan. (It will be on the Friday late till Saturday)
Is anyone interested in booking a dorm at the YHA in Keswick? GC
GCGlowing CheeksIf I come I would have booked in at the YHA (use them a lot) but I still can't plan that far ahead. However it's only a loss of 10% if you cancel so I may book in anyway and be done with it.
SJSJSIm not sure, but they did ask for my membership number. It would be great to see another vw.
CaCatrineglowing cheeks have just sent you an email would be great to stay in the same place as others lookforward to your reply
Hi GC and downtoearth65 have you booked in at the YHA at Keswick only I would be interested in joining you, thanks
JaJackie55Hi all, I have booked a 6 bed dorm at the Keswick YHA (0845 3719746) for Fri/Sat nights (22/23-10). If you want to book in the same dorm (M/F) then quote ref: 22391. You will have to pay on booking. Am intending to walk Sunday too but travel back that night. Looking forward to it
on 03/09/10 @ 7:01:0)GC
Yeah sure, first come first serve as they say. Give them a ring :0)GC
GCGlowing CheeksHalf term dates ok so count me in also, GC do you mind me trying to get into dorm at YHA as well? Not a problem to camp or B&B either.
RRourkyRourky no probs - more the merrier! GC
GCGlowing Cheeksthanks GC will ring them later today
on 04/09/10 @ 6:57hey just booked spoke to a very nice guy who knew all about the booking and was very helpful thanks again
cheers GC will get onto it asap
RRourkyHi I fancy the YHA too but what if the dorm is full? do we fill another dorm or just go in with other groups? I have never stayed in one before. Also anyone know aqbout parking at this hostel??
frfrandalliHi Frandalli if the dorm is full you can reserve another dorm (3, 5 or 6 beds). Maybe just reserve a 3 bed and post on forum for any takers. The YHA advised that there is a 2hr disc parking for dropping kit off etc (though free between 6pm-8.00am) and then it is a case of parking around the streets or there is a free car park about 200 yards away. Hope this helps. GC
GCGlowing Cheekshi everyone. thanks Catrine for your reply (and apologies for my slow response). I'm quite going on the idea of the YHA though (I think my membership is still ok, though havent used them for a while). (GC, thanks for the idea ).I'll ring them later and see if theres any room (hope thats oK).I'll reply in this thread and say how its going. kev
kekevinoThanks GC for that, I notice that Kevino mentions being a member, am I missing something here? can only emers use the YHA? thanks frandalli
frfrandalliHi jules69, when I booked the 6 bed dorm I just reserved the dorm and paid for myself and then just post it on forum for people to phone and book/pay for the accomm against your booking reference. If your a member its £44 for 2 nights £50 for non-members. GC
on 06/09/10 @ 14:17Hi all, there is still 1 bed left in the 6 bed dorm against booking ref: 22391 (see above on thread) in the YHA if anyone wants it. GC
GCGlowing CheeksI would love to make it up there to meet you all just not sure whether I can do that weekend yet.
mgmacc_girlHope you can mg
mamark301GC et al...Just made the booking in the dorm at Keswick YHA for the Friday and Saturday nights...hope thats ok (dont know if that fills the dorm though; just looking at your last message of 06/09) kev
kekevinoHi Kevino, great you've booked and 'yes' the dorm is full now though, there are more available should anyone else want to book in. :0) GC
GCGlowing CheeksHi edd, I'm still trying to sort my shifts out but if I can make it will be camping.

RRourkyAs i am new to the site weekend in the lakes sounds great, would be a good opportunity to meet some new people. Where is everyone staying? I would be up for camping but YHA or B&B sounds better. Any rooms left in the dorms...Let me know. Cheers
ADAlly & DaveHi Allybongo, I believe the 6 dorm is full now but I know of about 8 people booked into the YHA. Also there are quite a few camping but I don't know where. If you want the YHA the details are Keswick YHA (0845 3719746). Try and speak with 'John' at the YHA as he has his head screwed on! and quote ref: 22391 I believe he has set up an overflow dorm!. You will have to pay on booking. Hope that helps. GC
GCGlowing CheeksThanks glowing cheeks, just checked availability for them dates and YHA appears to be full now. Will sort something else out, have stayed at Denton House before..its actually ok but just a bit basic so might try there..thanks anyway.
on 13/09/10 @ 15:42If anyone is struggling for accomodation i have just booked into Denton House. They have vacancies for that weekend and its cheap and only need to pay deposit. I was going to camp but almost got washed away last time i pitched up in keswick.. look forward to meeting everyone nearer the time.

Hope to meet up with you at some future point. (Not sure I'll get down to Wales though, as a house move is imminent and you can bet it will all happen at the same time, so I hope you all have a great time if I dont see you)..Down to Earth's idea sounds good for February. I'll try and contribute to the planning if I can..kev
