Food for thought
by The Mind is WillingEarly days though it is perhaps some thought could be put into Christmas party 2013. As the girls have carried the mantle for the past two years perhaps the guys could take over especially since it was a guy who organised the first one! <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />

Great idea TMiW <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
mimilvusMerry Christmas everyone!
MMMadMagI thought we had settled on, that the blokes organised the walks --- because we can read maps
dadavemAnd you girlies organised the parties.B<img src='theme/emoticon_wink.png' />ecause you are sooooooo good at it !!!<img src='theme/emoticon_wink.png' />
Ha ha nice try Davem <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
mimilvusThat's not such a good example Davem as didn't one group have three different opinions on how to get back from a walk at this Christmas bash?!!
I'm sure the girls would be more than willing to assist any of the Boys should they decide to take it on. I guess the first question really should be where it should be held?
Oh GOD we're not talking about christmas already!?! Perhaps we could just discuss a party and leave the Christmas bit out until two days before!!!. Perhaps as there's a lot of people going this wknd, we could put everybody's location suggestions into a Hat/Pan and pull out a venue. <img src='theme/emoticon_grin.png' />
jwjw19There we go TMiW, I rest my case.... It was Jo and Ally's group who got lost lol. No matter what they say......
dadavemActually it was Keith's group and weren't you in it Davem!!!!! <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
on 11/02/13 @ 18:26JW19 I only brought the subject up to try and get someone to take it on and decide where to have it - in theory. Definitely far too early! <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
This looks like a managable venue
http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/eyam
NO its not to early to sort something for Christmas. Thank you for putting the feeler out TMIW
MiMitchA point of order Claudette,no such word as lost in a walkers vocabulary, just in a place where we were not expected to be<img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' />
lalandranger68You're right of course Keith and I would like to make it clear I was not making accusations to anyone but Davem as we love a good bit of banter don't we Dave! <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
on 12/02/13 @ 8:00Mitch it's a pleasure <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' /> I know it can take the boys awhile to make a decision! <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /> So which of you are man enough!!!! <img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
Jo and Ally's group lol <img src='theme/emoticon_grin.png' /> I knew I'd be in the not lost group.
UJUltreia (Jo & Alan)Ha ha, We certainly do mate.
dadavemOk I've made a decision !!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to propose my good bud roukie...He's done such a great job organizing this weekend that he must be seriously in touch with his feminine side !!!!!
And he can read a map.
Do I have a seconder.lol
I don't know I think it's to close to Brecons. If he does Christmas we might not get our annual bash. What about somewhere warm in the south? Terry or John <img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
UJUltreia (Jo & Alan)What about a summer xmas party, it'll be warmer? An OD garden party, we just need a garden and a party.....<img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
mimilvusHaha, great lateral thinking mate...... and a big tent
dadavemA summer party should be as well as Christmas Milvus Don't distract the boys you know how easy it is <img src='theme/emoticon_confused.png' />
Good idea Jopo - Terry & John would make a great team for Christmas. Convince them when you do the South Downs <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
Terry & John team here...well the John section anyway.
JWJWIf you guys are willing to head down south the Terry & John team (Hi Terry, how you doing?) would be happy to organise. Location options would be, North Downs, Surrey Hills or Hampshire section of South Downs.
A man showing willing! <img src='theme/emoticon_grin.png' /> Is there a good YHA/Bunkhouse type place that could house about 40 people and get sole use? Or somewhere between you & Peak District?
on 13/02/13 @ 8:09www.yha.org.uk/hostel/sherwood-forest
www.yha.org.uk/hostel/stow-wold
i'd go south but then again i'd go anywhere
MiMitchIt has been said mitch! <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_confused.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
Stow on the wold looks good, but a bit of a drive to walk the Cotswold way, lovely area though.
JWJWHolbury in Dorking is an option, just off the North Downs and the Surrey Hills. 46 beds, so should fill it.
Think they travel quit well Minty, even if they do insist on bringing all that wet weather gear with them....not required<img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
Bit of a trek for us Northerners, somewhere central would be better if poss. Like your idea Milv about a summer bash as well, although fitting it in may be difficult.
jwjw19Mmmm I might give that some more thought then <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
mimilvusIf you want to attend it enough it won't matter where it takes place. How much do you want it? <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' /> A Christmas bash that is! <img src='theme/emoticon_confused.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
If you guys are willing to travel then I am happy to organise (sure my southern buddies would chip in), the Surrey Hills and North downs are great walking areas.
JWJWGuess we need to know everyones views, no point having an xmas do if only a handful turn up.
Well Done that man for volunteering <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' /> So everyone, is down south the venue?
Are you up to it Jw, after all, last christmas , TMiW, did a real fine job. It was a fantastic weekend......<img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
MGM GWell i may do it lol
on 14/02/13 @ 15:42How about pulling starws.lol
mamark301Thanks Martyn buth Cath's right everybody did me proud and really entered in to the spirit of it (even you!) and Keith
on 14/02/13 @ 16:37Jane & Chris stood up to the plate and led the walks. It was the biggest so far and I know John is more than capable <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
if its around the dates as last year i am very interested whereever it may be. Only a suggestion but 29, 30 th November 1st December
MiMitchLooks like jw & tmiw are doing the organising well done tmiw volunteering again
WiWiggyand you's will make lovely Mr & Mrs clause too :looks like it down south twice in a year can i handle it?
<img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /> I don't recall volunteering Wiggy. I think I was just nudging a worthy successor!
Christmas.........hmmmm.....humbug lol
veventureThanks for your kind offer Mark301 and our good friend johnwalking. Further thought was given to the christmas party this weekend and The Mendips came up in conversation. How do people feel about this?
www.yha.org.uk/hostel/cheddar#
It's about 4 1/2 hrs from Haworth Yorkshire
If the function is around North Downs, my son and I are happy to lead a walk from the stepping stone, Boxhill. Including a pub stop at Mickleham and tea/cake stop at the end.
wawalklovemysonThink Mendips is agreat location for a Christmas bash.
JWJWMy offer for the North Downs was there if no one else wanted to take it on.
Thanks Johnwalking depending on the general concensus nothing is ruled out at present. All comments and ideas will be greatly appreciated <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
on 18/02/13 @ 17:31I think the dates to be considered for the Christmas Bash should be either 22nd/23rd or 29th/30th November 2013. What does everyone else think?
on 19/02/13 @ 10:43Some of us are still considering a summer bbq Milvus so watch this space (well not this exact one but you know what I mean!)<img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
on 19/02/13 @ 10:44Do we want a theme this year for dress code? Someone mentioned a medieval theme and then I came across this location http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/st-briavels#
on 19/02/13 @ 11:01Thoughts anyone?
I hope you mean November Minty or we'll have only a couple of days to organise it!!! <img src='theme/emoticon_wink.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' /><img src='theme/emoticon_evilgrin.png' />
Lovely castle, my old namesake used to stay there! <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
BJBlue JohnHey that looks good, the castle i mean. Yes up for that and I have an outfit!!! <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
on 19/02/13 @ 16:36Oh and either date is good for me <img src='theme/emoticon_smile.png' />
mimilvusHaha Minty come on tell the truth....you know why we kicked the door down really <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' />
minty what you on about 22nd 23rd February ???????
MiMitchBad news guys the castle is booked <img src='theme/emoticon_unhappy.png' /> You have to book 18 months in advance. If we want it we could only have it 2nd November! Bit too early don't you think?
yes just a bit
MiMitchChris it will be lovely to have you join us where ever we have it. Unless more people opt for 23/24 in the following week we can make it 29/30
29/30 would be best
MiMitch29/30 is looking quite likely now unless a lot object. Venue is still in question though. Still waiting to hear from Cheddar YHA
Nightmares Minty....must be lack of ensuite facilities in your room.Right now I am in the lap of luxury <img src='theme/emoticon_tongue.png' />
