Don't turn round and walk backwards whilst talking to those behind, you're bound to fall in a hole or over a rock.

Don't wee in the bracken or you'll get a tick in your bum 😀😀

It is never as far as you think, its usually much further

Whatever the weather never go in to the mountains without your waterproofs. Never take them out of your rucksack.

Reading BJ's original post again, it could all be a bit of a metaphor for life really couldn't it 🙂🙂

on 22/08/13 @ 8:09

Hello mints, don't laugh at me, I was trying to be deep and meaningful and enigmatic 😀😀!
"Don’t think the first mountain you see is the one you’re aiming at" applies just as well to a a day in my office as a day on the fells at the moment. And the thought of a pub dinner at the end of it is the only thing that keeps me in employment!! 😀😀
And as for "If you think you are going in the wrong direction…you probably are", well that covers my rocky journey from wedded bliss to singledom quite nicely. Use your imagination man!!
😀😀😀

PDPear Drop (Sarah)   on 22/08/13 @ 10:15

pApreggy47(Andy)   on 22/08/13 @ 11:09

MoMorningdawn  on 22/08/13 @ 17:35

When walking in the Welsh mountains at night for a reconnaisance use a map of Snowdonia not Scotland thus avoiding a call out of the local Mountain Rescue Team (see Metro 23rd Aug) 🙂🙂

BJBlue John   on 23/08/13 @ 7:46

Haha, just seen this on bbc website, is this what you meant by trying to make the terrain fit the map? 🙂😀

PDPear Drop (Sarah)   on 23/08/13 @ 8:39

TMIW, MD, Ally , you must remember Welsh miles are a tad longer than those over the border.

RRourky  on 23/08/13 @ 14:39

BGBustaGut (Grant)   on 26/08/13 @ 9:47

Dont worry about map reading, there is always someone in the group that knows the location of the nearest pub 🙂😋

on 26/08/13 @ 13:51

The first thing they taught us on my navigation course was identification of symbols for landmarks & I memorised the pub one as being the most useful 🙂

BJBlue John   on 26/08/13 @ 17:07

you need to share your extensive knowledge of map reading pubs with us all john.

pApreggy47(Andy)   on 09/09/13 @ 7:09

Or just lead a pub crawl!!!! 😈😈😈😈😈😈

The Mind is Willing   on 09/09/13 @ 7:21

If you are facing in the right direction, all you have to do is keep on walking in order to reach your dreams 🙂

BJBlue John   on 25/09/13 @ 7:18

Well said BJ, even when the path is a bit rough 🙂🙂

PDPear Drop (Sarah)   on 25/09/13 @ 8:08

Nobody trips over a mountain. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path & you will find you have crossed the mountain 🙂

BJBlue John   on 25/09/13 @ 11:20

Aw BJ. Why didn't I know you 3 years ago when I was a mental wreck. You are inspirational. God bless you 🙂🙂

PDPear Drop (Sarah)   on 25/09/13 @ 15:00

BJBlue John   on 25/09/13 @ 16:38

Thank you, what a lovely thing to say 🙂🙂 I look at every morning as a brand new start now, life is so exciting specially since I joined OD 🙂

Dolly Parton (of all people!) came up with one of my favourites - "if you want to see the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain" 🙂🙂

You are getting near the summit of a mountain when the clouds seem to be moving quickly immediately above you.

Don't worry if you are a kleptomaniac...you can always take something for it 😋

BJBlue John   on 28/09/13 @ 16:28

FL; only just seen your comment as I have been in Normandy with no laptop.
For the last few hundred feet up a mountain you are saying to yourself "How much furthur?" Many mountains also have several false tops, and you get to one only to find there is more climbing. My altimeter helps, but I have noticed that if you are arriving at a false summit, when you look directly up, the clouds do not seem to move much. When you are going up the final, true summit, the cloud seems to move horizontally relative to the mountain.
I don't know how this works, but it could be that when you are almost on top you are closer to the cloud base so the impression of movement is greater.
Anyone else seen this?

cocolinjoseph   on 04/10/13 @ 5:33

Got ya Col thanks for explaining i think you've climbed some bigger mountains than me lol now get back on here and find that ideal woman🙂
