Your First Walk Impressions
by Ultreia (Jo & Alan)Talking about this the other day. My first walk, I thought was a stroll around a reservoir with just a drink.:~
I didn't expect going through, Marsden and Saddleworth Moores for 6 hours. Ended up nearly losing toe nails and nearly passing out with hunger. ☹
I thought never again if this is walking. So glad I returned😀😀

I did not expect to be chucked in Henfoot Beck on Trekie`s weekend Coniston expedition and almost blown off Dow Crag😀😀
lalandranger68I didn't expect to need an ice axe and crampons (well nearly) 😀😀

TCTCMine was the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with 9 lovely people. June (?) 2012. First thoughts were what a lovely, welcoming group. What a great day out that was. Still here, still meeting lovely people and still having great days out.
Yes Steve, of course I remember eyeing you up in the car park in Keswick and wondering what you'd think I was playing at if it turned out you weren't an ODer!!! Goulash in the Dog and Gun was good though!

FrFrankieMy first walk was a 10 mile flat ish walk at Parbold, wondered what I was doing meeting a load of strangers, Jopo, TMIW, Brooky and about 7 others who were all and some still are the "core" of OD to me, they were all so pleasant and welcoming, I just said to myself at the end "what a friendly bunch, deffo coming out again" and like others have said, never looked back, and met lots of great people since.🙂😈

Oh dear🙂 My first walk was Rourkys Bash No 2.
BMBionic ManNever stayed in a bunk house before it was -10 Deg C inside and one of the other guys snored like something out of Jurassic Park😮
The walk was fab up Pen U Fan, with ice crystals shinning in the sun, just like the hearts of the other OD members. Got back in the car on Sunday and thought like out of Butch Cassidy "who are those guys" 🙂
Stargazer : I remember it well! You bought me a bunch of....daffs or was it tulips??!!! :~😀😀
Same as Terry. Barmouth was my first weekend walk, you sum it up perfectly🙂
JWJWMy favourite OD moment (realise this should be a different thread)was watching you northern folk mixing with us southerners down on the South Downs🙂
After your efforts at Barmouth it would have been rude not to John.🙂 Plus we would have missed that lovely weather! 😀 Both were great weekends! 🙂
Stargazer, it was you who was snoring!!🙂
