Dover, Wye, Canterbury....N.Downs Way ..the final loops
by Carpe Diem!G. Chaucer - "Now as I've drunk a draught of corn-ripe ale; By God it stands to reason I can strike, On some good story that you all will like ..."
The Canterbury Tales are full of banter, lust, drunkenness, rivalry and the journey of a lifetime. We had all that and more, including scrumping, skipping and ribaldry. Here's a flavour below...titled:
Yomping with Lizzied - a Northern Lad's Induction.

Pilgrims, we tramped
on 03/10/16 @ 12:22wi' Liz to the fore,
Mark, Jill, Mont, Shaz and Jon,
her trusty disciples,
dressed to kill that route,
undulating across the Kentish fields,
we marched, sang "My Fair Lady",
and tea 'n cider
ne'er tasted so good.
Brisk, yet relaxed,
laughter reigned
and the rain faltered
as the double rainbow sprang
from the plough's trail,
the worms, dogs, puppies, ponies and hairy sheep
shared our tales
and blinked at these muddy apparitions,
gliding by...
mile
........
.....
CDCarpe Diem!...after stile
after mile,
23 AND A HALF, one day,
18 odd, the next,
yet smiles abounded
as that final welcoming cafe
waved us in
and leaden feet resumed feeling,
loving that grand old workout
in England's Garden...
Thank You Liz!
