lalandranger68My instinct would be to say I prefer the west coast, but actually haven't been to that many places on the west coast apart from some bits of Cornwall and Wales. And Morecambe Bay which is beautiful with its views of the Lake District.
A couple of years ago I did a bike ride along the Northumberland coast and it was wonderful. I like the Lincolnshire and Norfolk coast too so I guess I probably prefer the east coast! I've done the C2C ride from Morecambe to Bridlington which is a great route.
I too prefer the west coast, though I can't really judge the east without exploring further. North Wales and Cumbria have some beautiful coastal areas, but the west coast of Scotland keeps calling me back.
gegem1000I enjoy both coasts. Enjoy any walks really. Would probably say West as I enjoy the hills, so Lakes definitely. I walk mostly round Forest of Bowland, it's near to me. My son lives in Lincolnshire and have done some decent walks there but find it quite flat, though that can be really good for a change.
Living in Bristol, the east coast seems a long way off. I recently visited the Lincolnshire coast, and that was nice - big skies. However, I'm drawn to the Atlantic side - rugged coastlines, wild weather and sunsets. The South, South West, and Wales offer wonderful coastlines - a playground for walkers and kayakers 🤠
Like many responders, I find I’m drawn to the west side having enjoyed fabulous holidays and breaks in Cornwall (north coast), Devon (mainly Dartmoor but SW coast path), SW Wales (coast path around Pembrokeshire), N Wales (Snowdonia and Conwy), Wirral (Bidston Hill), the Lakes (Borrowdale and NW lakes) and Scotland (Skye and Parallel Roads).
Alan_SIt doesn’t always have to be steep and craggy to be enjoyable, and I get a lot out of exploring the New Forest and the South Downs.
Much as I want to say Northumberland coast (proud North-Easterner) the coastline forever in my heart is west coast of Scotland. Swimming in the sea off Camusdarach beach - beautiful.
TrangiaVanIt's great to read these posts and find out what people like.
